Hi, I’m Grayland G. Fredericks Jr., founder of Grayfish Photography.

My journey into photography began unexpectedly in December 2013, during my very first trip to New York City. I was there with my family, tasked with secretly capturing a live marriage proposal at the airport baggage claim. I had just bought my first DSLR camera—and that one moment lit a creative spark in me I didn’t know existed.

While exploring “The Big Apple,” I kept snapping pictures—cityscapes, people, little details—and something just clicked. I found joy in freezing time, capturing emotion, and telling stories through still images. It felt natural, maybe because my father was the lead photographer at his college campus. Knowing I could turn to him for advice made me even more excited to dive in.

Soon, I was reading books, watching tutorials, and soaking up every bit of knowledge I could find. New gear started arriving at my door, and before I knew it, I was hooked. I became a self-taught photographer, developing both a style and a deep respect for this beautiful art form.

In 2014, I officially launched Grayfish Photography, LLC. The name “Grayfish” was a nickname my cousins gave me growing up—“Gray” from my first name, and “Fish” because of my love for the coastal waters during visits to the Gulf Coast.

Since then, I’ve had the privilege of capturing weddings, fashion shows, birthday parties, family portraits, baby showers, and so much more. If it’s a moment worth remembering, I’m there with my camera, ready to tell your story.

My motto is simple:
"Many pictures can be captured in a lifetime, but only a great few can capture life."

Thanks for stopping by—I’d be honored to help you preserve your most meaningful memories.
